Ylang-Ylang is a tropical tree with intensely fragrant whitish-yellow flowers, native to Madagascar, Reunion and the Comoros is cultivated. In its natural environment, the Ylang-Ylang tree is 10 - 30 m high, but in cultivation it is pruned to 2 - 3 m high. Distillation of the flowers takes up to 20 hours. Ylang-Ylang is a important raw material for perfumery.
