What is the purpose of peels?
Peels, scrubs, exfoliators – many names, one effect: refreshed, rejuvenated skin. Summer is approaching and we want to feel light and free, to simply free ourselves from any baggage. Peels fit wonderfully into the program. But what can a peeling do that a normal cleansing cannot? Who needs it and what types of exfoliating products are there?First of all, exfoliating products are recommended for those who are frustrated with their skin despite consistently taking good care of it. If you pamper yourself with high-quality care, perhaps even follow the current trend of layering (cream over serum over concentrate) and still don't see any results, you should definitely try a peeling - maybe that's exactly the solution you haven't yet had on the list " had. A peeling removes dead skin cells from the skin, making it not only more delicate and softer, but also much more receptive to all care products. So, firstly, you get an immediate effect because the callused, almost gray layer of skin that previously formed the surface makes way for the fresher skin cells underneath and the stimulated blood circulation also ensures a radiant, fresh look, and secondly, a long-term effect because of all the beautiful care products can finally work again. Small wrinkles are immediately reduced and the pores are refined. It is also said that collagen and elastin production can even be stimulated by peeling, which ensures plumper and firmer skin in the long term.
There are peelings for the body and for the face - here you should pay attention to what the respective products are intended for, as the more sensitive facial skin usually requires particularly fine and gentle peeling substances, while somewhat coarser peeling particles can also be suitable for an effective body peeling .?
Peels salt, sugar, apricot kernel pieces and other particles
The term “mechanical peeling” may sound a bit unglamorous, but it simply means that the peeling is not done with enzymes or acids, but rather with tiny granules that “rub off” old skin cells through friction. These grains can be of very different types - from salt or sugar, coffee or clay to finely ground apricot kernels, many natural substances come into question. Small plastic particles can also be found in some commercially available peelings, but not in the peelings available here at AYURDEVA! Peelings with fine crystals are offered by dermatologists and cosmetic institutes under the name “microdermabrasion”. Mechanical peelings for at home are available in a wide variety. Of course, you can also carry out a mechanical peeling in the tried and tested hammam tradition with a rough peeling glove and soap foam.
Other peelings
An alternative to mechanical peeling are enzyme peelings, in which skin renewal is initiated by the protein-splitting effect of enzymes. The enzymes can be obtained from fruits, such as papain, which comes from papaya. The enzyme peelings available commercially are usually very mild and therefore suitable for sensitive skin and for frequent use. However, an intensive enzyme peeling, like that offered by the beautician, should not be done more than once a month.
There are also laser peels and chemical peels, which use acids to partially penetrate the middle layer of the skin. There are now some mild products with low-dose glycol on the market that we can really recommend. More aggressive “peeling treatments”, on the other hand, are not for home use, but are a clear case for the beauty doctor and are by no means for everyone. So back to the safe enjoyment of peeling for your beauty ritual at home, for which you can find a variety of great products at AYURDEVA.

If you take a few extra minutes in the shower to incorporate a peeling, you can turn showering into an effective and particularly beneficial little care and beauty ritual. A refreshing experience, for example, is the activating mint & cypress shower scrub from Primavera. The Allgäu manufacturer, which is known for the best natural cosmetics in organic quality, has created a wonderful recipe that contains microbeads made from jojoba wax and olive kernels as peeling particles. The skin is wonderfully supplied with blood and the peeling also has a moisturizing effect. In addition, according to the idea of aromatherapy, the essential oils of cypress and mint are also active on subtler levels and pleasantly clear the mind. The Body Polish Rice & Lotus from Lanna Oriental Spa is also pure luxury. Cane sugar and rice can be used to gently “sand” it, while lotus extract and high-quality vegetable oils provide the additional care factor.
Foot peeling at AYURDEVA
Most people tend to develop calluses on their feet, often to excess. Regular exfoliation can help keep the skin on your feet well-groomed and prevent the formation of calluses. Since calluses that have already formed are more difficult to remove than fine skin cells on other parts of the body, we recommend a special foot peeling that refreshes and naturally deodorizes the feet at the same time. We have a very pleasant and effective foot peeling from Apeirion in our range. Here it is finely ground, mineral pumice stone powder that provides the peeling effect. An interesting and very beautiful alternative to pumice stone! And at the same time so beneficial, because coconut oil and olive oil immediately make it smoother and more supple. It also contains, for example, sage and chamomile to naturally disinfect the feet and soothe the skin. The foot peeling creates a dense, really wonderful foam and is simply a pleasure to use!
"Peeling fans will get their money's worth at AYURDEVA and will be delighted with the luxurious yet very natural products in our carefully curated selection. We wish refreshing, pampering peeling experiences, good results, and a lot of enjoyment!"
