Traditional Ayurvedic herbal purees (lehams) are among the most popular Ayurvedic products. They are considered Rasayanas – Ayurvedic tonics (not scientifically proven). The main active ingredient Ashvagandha, Brahmi or Shatavari is prepared with raw cane sugar, ghee, usually honey and a number of Ayurvedic herbs and spices to form a tasty, jam-like paste.
According to classic Ayurveda, a leham is only authentic if the main ingredient is supported in its Ayurvedic effect by other herbs and spices.
