For centuries, people in Nepal and parts of India have been washing their laundry with so-called "soap nuts" (botanical name: Sapindus Trifoliatis). Still an insider tip in this country, we offer you genuine Nepalese loose shells.

How does it work?
The shell of soap nuts contains the substance saponin, which functions in a similar way to soap. Ironically, in the Western world, soap nuts are used to extract the saponin and make industrially manufactured soap from it - whereas the original use, namely using them directly as a detergent, was ignored for a long time.

When the soap nuts come into contact with water in the washing machine, the saponin is released and has the same effect as conventional detergent.
Instead of detergent, simply put about seven or eight soap nut halves into a small linen bag and place it in the drum of your washing machine.

You will be pleasantly surprised by the effect: Soap nuts clean amazingly! All common stains are removed, just like normal washing powder. The only problem is that soap nuts cannot remove very stubborn stains, e.g. red wine or blood, just as conventional washing powder cannot.
What surprised us during our tests was that the laundry was pleasantly soft after washing - just like after a wash with fabric softener added! Adding fabric softener is therefore explicitly not necessary.

The scent of laundry washed with soap nuts is completely neutral - if you prefer scented laundry, just add a few drops of essential oil to the linen bag containing the soap nuts: lavender, rose, orange, lemongrass - the variety of scents is almost unlimited.

Allergy sufferers can rejoice! Soap nuts are a great alternative, especially for allergy sufferers, sensitive people and neurodermatitis patients. Because the laundry no longer itches on the skin and the shampoo solution is also extremely mild. Anyone who thinks that this unusual and environmentally friendly washing method is expensive is wrong. Washing with normal detergent costs more than twice as much.
